The Sequence of Events
Submitted by shelleyp on Sun, 12/28/2008 - 10:58What started the sequence of events leading to Megan Meier's suicide was a MySpace account, but not the account of the fictional Josh Evans.
Before the events leading to Megan's suicide, she and her good friend, Sarah Drew, created a fictional MySpace account, hoping to attract boys. They found a picture of a pretty, older girl and use it for the image, continuing the account until they were caught, and the account closed down.
Later, during the trial of Lori Drew, Megan's mother, Tina Meier, would testify that she was unaware2 of the earlier MySpace account, directly contradicting her statements in an earlier interview, but it's likely the earlier account acted, in part, as inspiration for the creation of Josh Evans.
